Prince George’s County, Md. - The Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter (PEO) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Inc. (AKA) and the Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter (PCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Incorporated (DST) have joined together on an important initiative to combat Human Trafficking in
Prince George’s County. These two historic organizations have committed to be “United for the Fight” to
help end human trafficking in Prince George’s County. As part of this initiative the two sororities will
host three FREE human trafficking awareness online seminars (webinars). The first webinar in the
Human Trafficking awareness series was held virtually on September 21, 2022 with over 250 attendees.

Prince George’s County, Md. September 8, 2022 - The Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Laurel, Md.—Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter (PEO) of AKA is helping its members stretch their dollars and become money smart by launching an investment club. The newly formed Ivy Investment Club (IIC) is comprised of 27 partners who are eager to learn more about participating in the stock market and using other investment vehicles to accumulate wealth.

Prince Georges, County, Md.— The Pearl Elegance Foundation (PEF) in partnership with Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter (PEO) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., successfully executed its first-ever Matching Campaign fundraiser, raising more than $17,000 in less than 30 days. PEF was established in 2014 and is the charitable arm of Psi Epsilon Omega chapter of AKA sorority.



“Due to COVID-19 the scheduled fundraising activities for our foundation had to come to a halt; but, we were concerned that many of the Maryland families, seniors, and students who rely on our support would suffer,” said Benita Swindell, PEF President. “Thanks to a generous major donor we were able to launch our matching campaign. Our PEF Board of Directors and members quickly went into action virtually and the community responded in a big way.”

Prince George’s County, MD--Psi Epsilon Omega (PEO) Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (AKA), Incorporated® in Prince George’s County, Md. has provided more than $15,000 to 70 Black-owned businesses from Jan.- May 2020 in support of African-American entrepreneurs. Health and wellness providers, restaurants, plumbers, and clothing retailers, are just a few of the Black owned businesses supported by Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

“As the first Black female Greek organization, our sorority has always supported the Black community. Despite this initiative being launched prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are thrilled that we were able to “intentionally” support African-American entrepreneurs during a time when businesses were required to close or reduce their services due to the coronavirus,”said Benita Swindell, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter President.
